Another month, another London transport related event. This time Transport for London’s “Transported by Design” street festival, which closed off Regent Street last Sunday 3rd July.
This was an opportunity for TfL and their contractors to display some gems from the past and demonstrate ideas for the future, in what must be one of the nerdiest street fares I’ve ever attended…
Hashtags and social media important as ever.
I particularly liked the rest area benches covered in various moquette.
One of the new “inspired by the New Bus for London” models.
Everything looks better with a tube map on it.
The Idiom Park tent housed a display explaining the new Design Idiom guid that TfL has devised to help them design new stations and sympathetically restore old ones.
Making myself at home in Moquette Land.
An old Black Cab – as is probably obvious.
Classic signs from the Acton Depot that I visited on the open day a few weeks ago.
Lots of lovely merchandise for sale including these notebooks with Johnston type letters.
A Standard Stock car dating from the 1920s, looking rather out of place on the road.
Plenty of people keen to have a look around the charming old interior.
A nice line-up of old London buses.
Ahh, when the old Routemasters were new…
More queues for getting on things. I didn’t partake.
Going even further back in time with this one…
